ONLINE CLASSES

Robofun's online STEM classes allow your child to learn about, play, and develop new skills in a number of our online tech offerings.

Your child will learn new STEM concepts while having fun and forming new friendships. Available classes include robotics, animation, coding, and Minecraft. Robofun believes that good teaching recognizes that each child has their own learning style. Enrollment will be restricted to five students per class to create an environment that allows students to progress at their own pace, practice collaboration, and fall in love with learning. Our programs focus on developing confidence, grit, and the desire to solve problems.

Our schedule is created with flexibility in mind. We'll be offering four to five classes a day for different grades. You can sign-up for one or two classes a day. Sign up for as few or as many programs as you’d like!

Robofun is also introducing an all new certification system! Students will work their way through our three certification levels at Robofun. We call the beginner level Comet, the intermediate level Star, and the advanced level Supernova! Students will complete challenges and specific goals before moving to the next level. This new system will allow our instructors to give students specific projects that align with their skill level. Students will have a sense of accomplishment and we’ll support them to effectively build upon their previous knowledge. We can’t wait to see everyone shine!

Pre-K Online Classes

MOMMY + ME LITTLE CODERS

In our Little Coders course, students learn the basics of programming logic through hands-on activities and MIT’s introductory programming language called Scratch Jr. Each thematic lesson will take your child on an adventure in which their imagination comes to life through interactive stories and games. Students will snap together graphical blocks to design, edit, and modify characters. During this process, students will solve problems and develop foundational math and literacy skills.

All classes must be attended with a parent, who will both support the learning process and learn to code Scratch Jr. as well.

Robofun recommends using two separate devices for this class, one for the Scratch Jr. coding app and one for Zoom.

Scratch Jr. was developed by Dr. Mitchel Resnick an associate at MIT. Dr. Resnick is one of Robofun’s Advisory Board members and trusted advisors.

1st-2nd Grade Online Classes

MINECRAFT

Students will use the beloved and popular Minecraft platform as a gateway to learning the properties of electricity. In Minecraft, they will design machines that use pistons, levers, buttons, traps, and combination locks. They do this by using the game’s version of circuitry (called “Redstone”) to power buildings. The curriculum is designed for maximum fun coupled with hands-on learning. Robofun believes that good teaching recognizes that each child has their own learning style. Our teachers create an environment that allows students to progress at their own pace, practice collaboration, and fall in love with learning. Programs focus on developing confidence, grit, and the desire to solve problems. Requirements for this program include access to a laptop or iPad and a subscription to Minecraft. Please note that Chromebooks cannot run the Minecraft software.

CODING AND GAME DESIGN

Students will design their own video games using software developed by MIT called Scratch. They will use logic to write and piece together code. As they build video games such as our “Adventure”, “Maze”, and “Platform” games, students will progressively advance their coding skills. The Scratch coding language is transferable to learning more advanced programming languages, such as C++, Java, or Python. Scratch was developed by Dr. Mitchel Resnick an associate at MIT. Dr. Resnick is one of Robofun’s Advisory Board members and trusted advisors.

3rd-6th Online Classes

ONLINE ROBOTICS

In this class, students will learn how to design, make, and program their own robots at home. The Premium Hummingbird kit is comprised of lights, sensors, and motors, which allow students to build robots out of any materials, with any device, in multiple programming languages. This robotics class is perfect for children to exercise their imagination and creativity while developing a whole new set of skills in design and coding.

Your brand new robotics kit is included in our class price and mailed directly from the manufacturer to your address after registering.

ONLINE ANIMATION

In our animation class, students will design and produce short films. This class will teach students skills in technology and art while providing an opportunity for students to work together on a design team. Students will learn about storyboarding, frame rate, angles, artistic design, and more as they study professional animators and practice new techniques each week. Students will also take on the roles of animator, cameraman, and director to bring to life their storyboards, sets, and sculptures. This course is a great outlet for students to express themselves creatively while learning technology skills. A tablet device and basic art materials like markers, play dough, or clay are required for this class.
