Robotics Classes

At Robofun, students become young engineers and builders. Using LEGO Education’s Spike system, children build and code robots to explore the synergy between mechanical systems, sensors, and motors. Our classes blend STEAM tools with hands-on creativity, making complex engineering and math concepts both fun and accessible.

Programs are available after school, over school vacations, and in our STEAM-based summer camp. Our classes feel like fun, but it’s “hard fun” where children are growing, learning, and developing their STEAM understanding and teamwork and communication skills. Why is it important?

Robotics introduces kids to the principles of engineering, mathematics, and computer science in a way that’s tangible and exciting. Building and programming robots helps students master step-by-step problem-solving while developing the patience and logic required for more complex projects. The cycle of trial and error builds resilience—a vital life skill.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Yes! Of course. Our classes are extremely beginner friendly, and the level of difficulty is curated for each student based on where they are at.

  • Yes. They will learn to program using the spike programming language. While this is specific to this technology, the essential skills of learning to piece complex instructions together for a tangible outcome, can be applied to any future coding language.

  • Unfortunately taking the robot home is cost prohibitive. If you would like to purchase a robot, here are links to the current robot we are using.

  • Students design and construct robots that move, sense color, react to touch, and complete simple tasks. Every session introduces new -activities, keeping returning students challenged and inspired.

  • Our robotics programs are for students from Kindergarten through 6th grade. Each age group builds robots suited to their developmental level.

  • Yes. Robotics is one of our core STEAM-based education programs. It integrates science, technology, engineering, math and art. Most importantly your child is learning by making and building. Each project encourages creativity while teaching coding, collaboration, computational thinking and resilience.

  • Robofun focuses on both play and purpose. We integrate fun and learning into every project. We work across disciplines and hire teachers who love to work with children.  With our very sensitive and talented teachers, a child interested in art will be supported to will find a way into building and programming while a child focused on programming might expand or deepen their knowledge. Our programs are engaging, social, and developmentally aligned, making them some of the best camps for 5–13 year olds. While some of our students love science and technology before they come, others have considered themselves as “not interested” before coming to Robofun yet leave having loved their experience.

  • Yes. Robotics is available as an afterschool class, a day camp, or part of our STEAM-based summer camps. During the summer, students participate in week-long camps with themes like Amazing Animals & Adaptations, or Spycraft, Sleuths & Secret Science. For 3 hours each day, they focus on robotics and engineering. Each week over the summer has a different theme such as  and projects are based upon the theme. Often our biggest problem is that our students love what they are doing and don’t want to leave at the end of the day!
