5 Year Olds
Five-year-olds are in a fascinating in-between stage of development, where imagination meets emerging independence. Their brains are beginning to organize information more systematically, yet play remains their most powerful learning tool. This is the age when curiosity becomes experimentation, and ideas start to take shape in tangible, hands-on ways.
At this age, children:
Begin to connect their imaginative ideas to real-world objects and actions
Strengthen fine motor coordination and spatial awareness through building and manipulating pieces
Develop more understanding of logical thinking by sequencing steps and following cause-and-effect patterns
Thrive on visual, sensory, and kinesthetic learning experiences
Benefit from gentle guidance that channels creativity into focus and follow-through
How Robofun’s Prerobotics Program Supports Brain Growth:
Our PreRobotics program introduces kindergarteners to the exciting world of building, motion, and early engineering. Using LEGO bricks, gears, motors, and battery boxes, children design and construct simple robots while exploring basic mechanical concepts in a fun STEAM science camp environment.
Each class combines hands-on building, teamwork, and guided discovery. Students build themed robots, such as animals, cars, and simple machines, while learning core concepts such as energy transfer, balance, and gear meshing. Supported by our experienced mentors, children develop creativity, focus, and confidence through hands-on educational camp activities that feel like play but build real-world understanding.
At this age, children are learning how to follow plans while thinking like inventors. PreRobotics strengthens the emerging brain systems that govern planning, persistence, and focus, all while keeping imagination front and center. The result is a confident learner who understands how to explore, test, and improve an idea from start to finish. Five-year-olds’ brains are ready to connect imagination with structure. PreRobotics gives them the tools and space to experiment, discover patterns, and build early confidence as problem-solvers.
Frequently Asked Questions
-
No. Each session introduces new projects and challenges, ensuring that returning students continue learning at their own pace.
-
Not at all. PreRobotics is beginner-friendly, and our mentors tailor each class to meet your child’s current level and interests.
-
Students build fine motor coordination, sequencing ability, and early logic skills. They also practice collaboration, patience, and persistence, key ingredients for later success in STEAM learning.
-
While other camps focus on general play, PreRobotics provides structured exploration through STEAM learning tools. Kids engage in purposeful building, testing, and experimenting, all while having fun and working with friends.
-
Yes. Students use real robotic camp activities with LEGO motors and battery boxes to see how mechanics and movement work together. The lessons are designed to be playful yet educational.
-
This is the foundation for future programs like Spike Robotics and Coding & Game Design, where children apply what they’ve learned to more advanced robotics and digital engineering. It’s the ideal entry point into our STEM-based programs progression.
-
Yes. It’s offered as both an afterschool class and a vacation day or summer program, giving families flexible options for year-round learning.
