Vision Education & Media, home of RoboFun, provides exciting and innovative workshops that teach science, engineering and computer skills through the use of LEGO®MindstormsRobotics system, Video Game Design and Claymation. Young people to explore their unique creativity while learning new skills in problem solving, mechanics, spatial reasoning and much more.

Vision Education & Media’s Afterschool program is an exciting and innovative workshop that teaches science, math and computer skills through the use of LEGO® ROBOLAB for the RCX programs and LEGO® Mindstorms® for the NXT programs. Young people learn new skills in problem solving, mechanics, spatial reasoning and much more.

Robotics: Design, Build and program a robotics project!     

Lessons involve simple mechanism construction and programming challenges.
Motors, gears, pulleys and belts are used to create robots.
Participants also learn how to use touch sensors, light sensors and sound sensors to add to their creations.

Video Game Design: Gaming Fun! 

Participants create characters, various levels, variables such as lives and points,
working together to master SCRATCH® software. Participants also learn
basic game construction such as title page, instructions page, win and
lose backgrounds and character costumes.

Students build math and science skills as they build robotics projects using ROBOFUN blueprints and are encouraged to design their own creations for a final project.
Parents are invited to see student work from 9-9:30am on the final day of class.

VACATION DAY WORKSHOPS

Spend a day off from school at RoboFun! Children embark on a journey of discovery and creativity as they construct robotics projects using LEGO®. Keep your child's brain buzzing as we build their math and science thinking disguised as fun!

Ages 6-12 (We apologize, but we are unable to accommodate children under the age of 6 for this program.)

Participants also learn how to use a variety of sensors, depending on their skill level, to enhance their creation.

ROBOFUN SUMMER CAMP VIDEO GAME DESIGN is an innovative workshop that teaches math, computer literacy and basic programming methods using game designing software. Young people explore their unique creativity while learning new skills in problem solving, creative writing, sequencing and much more.

It is strongly recommended that all participants have at least a first grade reading level to enjoy working with Scratch.

STOP-MOTION ANIMATION| 1-4pm

ROBOFUN SUMMER CAMP STOP-MOTION ANIMATION: AGES 9-12 ONLY

Students author, design and direct their own stop-motion animation. Students work in teams to write their script, create clay characters and design their sets for their animations. Each students will script, shoot and edit their short films. Families are invited to a final showcase of all projects. Students can view all of the projects completed during the course of the week online.

WEEKENDS for Ages 8-11

Saturday NXT Robotics

Start your weekend with some brain activity at RoboFun!  Students learn the basics of robotics construction and programming in this 8 class program on Saturday mornings using NXT LEGO® materials.  Engage your child's interest with activities that incorporate math, science, problem-solving and cooperative learning. Parents are invited for a celebration at the end of the last class to see student projects and creations!

HOMESCHOOLERS

RCX ROBOTICS: Engage your Homeschooler in an exciting 8 part workshop series!  Students will learn the basics of robotics using RCX MINDSTORMS by LEGO®. Motivating activities will include project design and programming.

Ages: 5-8

Price: $200 per child for the series This is a special reduced rate for Homeschoolers.

Time: 1.5 hours

NXT ROBOTICS: Homeschoolers will construct and program several projects using NXT MINDSTORMS® software and LEGO® materials.  Lessons will focus on sturdy building basics, programming using touch sensors, sound sensors and ultrasonic sensors, as well as programming robots to do specific tasks.  This program is recommended for beginners and intermediate level students.

Ages: 8-12

Price: $200 per child for the series This is a special reduced rate for Homeschoolers.

WEEKEND WORKSHOP

Halloween Robotics Party: Sun. Oct. 30 (11am-1pm)

Celebrate Halloween in RoboFun Style! Create spooky robotics projects that capture the “spirit” of the holiday. A Halloween scavenger hunt and a pizza party will be part of the fun!

Ages: 6-10

PRE-ROBOTICS

Young LEGO® enthusiasts and aspiring engineers will spend an hour building and exploring pre-robotics in this 5 program series.  Each week, preschoolers will work with their caregivers to create a motorized construction-themed project or contraption that uses simple mechanics. Although projects will not be taken home, youngsters will have an unforgettable experience, developing math and science skills disguised as fun! Please note: This program is for preschoolers ages 4-5 and a caregiver.

Share an hour with your preschooler constructing and creating with LEGOS®! Projects will incorporate robotics materials like battery boxes, motors and wires so projects will be able to move! Age appropriate projects and supplemental literature will make the classes unforgettable!

HOMESCHOOL: 5 Session Class

DIY Class: Make-It Glow Circuit Workshop

Explore technology and creativity by making a piece of wearable art that glows!  Learn the basics of making electronic circuits and soldering using batteries, LED lights and resistors, and turn them on and off by wiring in your own switches. Participants bring an article of clothing, their own book-bag, canvas bag, hat or purse to decorate and make into their own lit-up and unique creations.
